A day tour
There are few places on earth, where so many historical and architectural monuments of world-wide significance were situated. Five of them are protected by UNESCO. You will have an opportunity to admire the unique work by people - the town of Suzdal, a real museum in the open air. On the terrestrial globe there are only three museums like that. You will open the pages of the history of this. It is located about 2-3 hours’ drive from Moscow. Arrival in Sergiev Posad. The tour starts with the Trinity St. Sergius Monastery (Lavra), built in the first half of the 1340s by the son of Rostov Boyar, Sergius of Radonezh, who remains one the most venerated saints in Russia. The monastery includes more than fifty edifices constructed by Moscow, Pskov and Yaroslavl craftsmen. In 1993 it was entered into the UNESCO World Heritage list. The History and Art museum within the walls of the Monastery contains a rich collection of old Russian paintings and various works of art dating back to the XIV - XVII centuries. 2-3 hours excursion Optional: Lunch at the local restaurant. Departure to Vladimir. Tour of the town and visit to a Assumption Cathedral, the Princess’ Convent, the Golden Gate; outside viewing of the Cathedral of St. Demetrius, familiarizing with Andrei Bogolybsky’s and Vsevolod`s III lives and activities, members of Romanovs’ family, who visited Vladimir. Departure to Moscow.
